5 To RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/PJH.20/KW.4.2.36. Gearbox for 32-EX. Will you please fit to the gearbox of 32-EX the oil scoop to N.Sch.4685. The parts made for the rig gearbox as instructed in our Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/PJH.22/KW.19.12.35 can be used if necessary. For the time being we are interested only in the part of this scheme which concerns the 3rd and 1st motion shaft. The modification to the gearbox casting and the 2nd motion shaft need not be fitted. Also the modifications to the rear end of the 3rd motion shaft for the purpose of ensuring that the scoop is assembled on the correct spline need not be incorporated in this case. The scheme calls for two 0.1875 holes in the nose of the first motion shaft. These holes should be increased in number from two to six. This has been agreed to by E/Hdy.{William Hardy} In our Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls}3/KW.3.2.36. we have instructed a strengthened 3rd speed gear to N.Sch.4734. This will require modification in the drilling of the oil holes in the boss to suit N.Sch.4685. By's Dept. are issuing blue prints to cover this, so will you please hold up the drilling of these holes pending issue of the correct blue prints. Will you please proceed with the manufacture of a further set of oil scoop parts for use on the rig gearbox. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/F.J.Hardy. | ||
