During the run the metal work inside the distributor became pitted with rust especially the cam; probably because it was not nickel covered. The points in the distributor head also appear to be slightly corroded:
It will be noticed that the spring has weakened, also that in wearing, the shape of the contact surface of the rubbing block has so altered, in relation to the cam, that the maximum gap for a .5 make ratio is only .009".
