EFC. PB63. Oct 30th 1922. X.3984. ENDURANCE TEST OF GOSHAWK DISTRIBUTOR+ X.4357. This test was run mainly with the object of ascertaining the wear of the bakelite rubbing block on the contact breaker lever, although the behaviour of other parts of the distributor was at the same time observed. For this purpose the distributor was run on the bench for 334 hours at 700 r.p.m. the equivalent of 10,000 miles on the road. Details of the test are as follows :- Total hours run - 334 Hours run with spark gaps running - 290 " " without " " - 44 A make ratio of .5 and a distributor speed of 700 r.p.m. were maintained as near as possible throughout the test. The cam was kept free from lubrication so as to get the maximum of wear of the rubbing block. The condition of these parts likely to alter in any way during the test was observed before and after the test, the results being given below :- Part of Dist. Before Test After Test Remarks. Rubbing block. .261" wide across widest point (centre) .240" across centre. Max. wear .021. Condenser. .276 mf. .261 mf. Checked periodically. Varied up and down within limits during test. | ||
