To Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} From GWH{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} Hotel de France Chateauroux Indre B E N S P O R T Thank you for your memo Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} 2/KT.1.4.33. The car is now running very well and full mileage is being carried out. The tyres are wearing very quickly, especially the rear, an average of 2000 only. I have just been in communication with Paris to try and obtain some, as we are badly in need of them. They are going to let me know in the morning and if I cannot then, shall telegraph you. BRAKES The wear of the brakes is too rapid. This is not with any fluke braking, but just ordinary wear. You will see by the daily report we are having to adjust them approx. every 1500 miles. Do you think customers will be satisfied with continual adjustment. The wear will be worse at home, due to traffic etc. STEERING We are not happy with the steering braking into wobbles at the low speeds. To day the steering felt to lively at high speed. It feels as if it wants a solid end at the pendulum lever, and more load on the cross steering tube. OIL LEAK INTO CLUTCH PIT This is still bad choose what we do. We have made a considerable improvement to the engine, as the daily consumption will show. We were better off yesterday even after the oil pipe had broken. The braking of the oil pipe is due to vibration and the change in section, where it is brazed into the steel junction at the side of the crankcase. RUDGE WHITWORTH WHEELS We had the N.S.F. wheel creaking to-day although it was tight. We took it off and greased the cone which cured the creaking. There is no sign of any spokes working loose up to now. G.W.H. | ||
