XC5583-a Mr.G.W.Hancock, c/o Hotel de France, Chateauroux, Indre, FRANCE. To Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}11/KT.3.4.33. Thank you for your note. Do not worry about the cylinder head gasket - it will be quite all right to complete the test with the copper & asbetos one, as the small difference in compression ratio will not affect the load on the piston appreciably. With regard to the brakes. When I was driving the car I could not appreciate that they felt spongy in actual use. Will you therefore please give us more information on the job, if you really feel that they are going to be unsatisfactory in the hands of customers. For example - how much movement of the pedal is required to take up the clearance of the Hancock shoe. If the brakes are correctly adjusted to give .020" clearance at the shoe centre, can you still get down to the floorboards etc?. Where is the majority of the spring taking place? We will consider what we can do. The next car will be run in France with AMR.2 brake linings to reduce wear, and we shall have to put up with any squeaks that occur. We are interested in the failure of the petrol pump. Will you pleasereturn it for examination by the makers. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | ||
