-3- EFC1/AD'S.8.1.30. contd. ignition switch only with B, M & B and M positions. One slight disadvantage in this would be the loss of the extended armature contact, but an advantage would be the elimination of the auxiliary magneto switch. We do not like the auxiliary magneto switch, and think it should be deleted from the system. It has been somewhat of a nuisance because the knob of the switch has not been insulated from its connecting bridge piece and shocks have been received. By suitable arrangements we have eliminated the possibility of shock except in the one case when the auxiliary magneto switch is 'off' though the magneto be 'on' in the M & C position of the switchbox switch. Even this possibility is objected to and we have asked the D.O. to insulate the switch knob and metal casing of this auxiliary switch from its bridge piece. I have known cases (on cars of another make) of a magneto being de-magnetised and rendered temporarily useless by an accidental connection on the positive of the battery to metal in connection with the low tension terminal of the magneto. That is an additional reason for insulating the casing of the switch. We think the auxiliary magneto switch is an item, the function of which either could be and should be included in the main switch, or be rendered unnecessary by otherwise suitably modifying the system.
