S/W. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} c to Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} c " N. GUL-82 - London Trials. Although we have never had a report from you on this car after it was left with you at W. just prior to Whitsun, I did of course have a few words with you on the telephone about it, and you mentioned having given some attention to the steering. When we sent the car to N. for the springs to be changed, they found the poundage of the cross steering tube was slightly under 4 lbs. This they re-set to 7 lbs. The side steering tube was set at 3 1/2 lbs, and this they left unaltered. I thought you would be interested to know this and that you could probably give us your views on these settings. We got the impression from N's note that the cross steering tube was too lightly loaded and that 7 lbs is the correct figure. If you have any comments to make on this we should be glad to hear from you. We are now awaiting the result of these changes in any further reports that we shall receive from the driver of the car as to the way in which the present arrangement of springs and steering is received by prospective purchasers.
