Hanbury - Head Complaints} Br.{T. E. Bellringer - Repair Manager} E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Hd.{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy} MX.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}(part time) & Hy.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} stated that C. realised how busy all concerned are and he had therefore asked H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} to have a chat with Br.{T. E. Bellringer - Repair Manager} and pick out the most urgent items which are worrying Sales. These are set out in H1/AL.18.9.33. as under:- (1) Seizure of Brakes. (2) Engine Gear Rattles. (3) Slipping clutches. (4) Servo Troubles and Brake inefficiency. (5) Sticking Air Valves. (6) Popping in Exhaust. Before proceeding to discuss these Hy.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} called the attention of the Conference to the amount expended on chassis 'free of charge' work during the 12 months ended August last, viz. £10964. H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} stated that Tr.{Capt. F. W. Turner - Finance} had certain figures which were showing a slight reduction but this expense item was not falling to the same extent during the last month or so. Minute 1. Seized Rear Brakes. H1/AL.18.9.33. states:- "During the discussion there was doubt as to whether "seized rear brakes or engine gear rattles should be "put in the primary position and it is C's desire "that brakes should have this honour, because this "trouble results in customers being actually held "up on the road. "The brake seizures frequently arise on new cars, "often on the first long run when the clearances "(now 1") are known to be correct having been closely "examined on final test. There were 41 cases in the "quarter ending June 30th and 12 recent seizures have "been dealt with by N. in many cases as outside "rescue jobs. "It is believed that W. is considering the adoption "of steel brake shoes in place of aluminium shoes, | ||
