RE SPEEDOMETER N.B.563. 800.

The speedometer was taken down because it was not water-tight, and in the first instance was simply cleanred out and re-erected.

A few days afterwards, however, water again appeared in the speedometer, showing 1/4" up the glass face.

On examining same a second time it was noticed that the split in the rubber washer was placed at the top of the instrument, and was apparently allowing the water to drip through, and, as the rubber washer was water tight, at the bottom, i,e, no join, gradually filled the speedometer.

The rubber washer was then removed and replaced with the slot between the two ends of the washer placed at the bottom.

No further water trouble was experienced again, the instrument remaining perfectly dry.

I would suggest that a solid rubber ring washer be fitted in place of the present straight piece of rubber.
