WRAITH III CRANKCASE.

Referring to your De.9/G.15.3.38. on the question of spanner clearances.

It should not have been necessary to remind the Design Department that the type of box spanner supplied with the chassis tool kit is totally unsuitable for continual use in the shops. Ordinary tube spanners are useless under such conditions, and the aero type of heavier section must be employed in order to avoid damage to nuts by the use of worn tools.

Furthermore, it is always policy to make provision for the possible introduction of mechanical spanners, which are in general use these days for the speeding up of assembly, and for this reason alone the practice of cutting down spanner clearances to the bare minimum should be strongly discouraged.
