Dear Sirs,

Confirming our interesting conversation yesterday, I am enclosing copies of Drawings Nos. GB.23795 and GB.23796/7, illustrating our standard method of applying external hydraulic cylinders to front and rear brakes of the wedge-operated type.

You will note that the front operation is of the plunger type, and is very simple indeed, as compared with the rear hydraulic cylinder plus hand brake connections.

I understand that your interest in this method of application is largely confined to the front brakes, in which the pusher type of assembly would be accepted.

With regard to using an internal type of cylinder, i.e., the usual Lockheed type, our main objection to this is, of course, the question of the effect of heat on the fluid. Providing the installation is such that high temperatures are not likely to be experienced, there is no objection to this system, but where the reverse is the case, the external cylinder is, in our opinion, very necessary. However, we shall be pleased to discuss this with you at a little later date, after you have completed the preliminary tests with mechanical actuation.

If you wish, we shall be pleased to consider the
