x206 To EH: from Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}2/HP.13.9.34. c. Wors. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Hdy.{William Hardy} WHG. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Bentley Front Brake Pull-Off-Springs. Referring to the Front brake pull-off-springs becoming disconnected on Mr Hall's car, herewith is N. Sch.4186 which shows the springs so hooked into the winding-up bush that it cannot be disconnected after assembly. It is intended that the spring shall be hooked into the bush while both are off the shaft, then slipping them both simultaneously over the shaft makes it impossible for the spring to come out of the bush. The modification to the spring hook is to make the bush suitable for machining in accordance with a suggestion from the Tool Dept. to which there seems to be no objection.
