(1) Referring to the list of experimental parts fitted to 12-EX chassis attached to Hs {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} 3/LGSG.6.26. None of the new parts given in that memo are yet in production except the hydraulic dampers. Items - 8; 13; 16; 17 have already been standardised and standardisation sheets completed. These will undoubtedly be in production. (2) We anticipate the test will start about 15th, July. It should be completed, according to the revised programme of 10,000 miles tests, early in Sept. (3) BY. {R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} informs us that according to the latest programme for production, the first car fitted with the lightened type axle must be delivered from Works to Test on December 11th. (4) This point was discussed with R. {Sir Henry Royce} It was considered that with the experience we have had with the lightened axle, both as regards bumping tests and road tests, there was very little risk in ordering forgings to the improved design. If this is done, the 10,000 miles test will be completed a long time before cars with this type of axle are ready for delivering to customers. As there has been such a good move made to obtain the improved forgings, we think it is necessary to send a car to France until this is fitted. Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
