RedesWDZ 1020 LA{L. A. Archer}4/T18.3.38 RE. HALLS METAL CONNECTING ROD BEARINGS. PIII. We have now finished the testing of the first 12 'D' Series Chassis fitted with Halls Metal Bearings to the connecting rods. All the running, both on the Test beds and the road, has been done without the oil cooler in circulation. We have done a number of runs of 100 miles at an average speed of 40 miles per hour with the various chassis, and with an air temperature of 11° the maximum oil temperature reached was 90°. We have dismantled and examined a number of these bearings and in every case we have found them to be in perfect condition. In view of the good condition of these bearings after our running, we should say they will be perfectly satisfactory whenthe oil cooler is dispensed with. LA{L. A. Archer} | ||
