WORM AXLE (Contd.) (4) X141

Committee agreed that Mr. Nadin should get samples for this purpose.

90th Meeting Nov. 30. 11. Re Worm gears.

Mr. Nadin informed the Committee that these gears had been promised for delivery by the Albro Clem Co of America for November 14th, but were not yet to hand. It was probable that delivery would be at least another week.

91st Meeting Dec. 1. 11. Re Extract from the Times Engineering Supplement.

Mr. Nadin read an extract from the Times Engineering Supplement of November 29th, concerning the efficiencies of worm and bevel gears.

The Committee did not agree with the writer's remarks concerning the relative efficiencies of the worm and bevel gear. They are of the opinion that the efficiency of a bevel gear does not fall so rapidly as that of the worm gear when the alignment and adjustment is faulty.

94th Meeting Dec. 6. 11. Re Worm Axle.

The Committee asked Mr. Flatford what progress he had made with further testing of the experimental worm axle. Mr. Flatford informed the Committee that he had not run any further tests since the axle had been
