TRANSMISSION Clutch Slips. A very large number of 20/25HP No complaints on 25/30HP & PH.III when pedal adjustment is correct i.e. not fouling floorboards. Clutch jaggers. Several 20/25HP. A fair amount of 25/30HP. Phantom III - complaints becoming numerous. Now improved with Thermoid faced cushioned plate. Clutch Trunnion Bearing Noisy on cars on test. Gear Box Complaints of noise, slack & "clunking" on indirect gears. Synchro mesh operation poor on PH.III. Jumping out of gear 25/30HP and early PH.III. No complaints on PH.III when modification carried out. Vibrations & Noise hand brake and change speed lever. Isolated gear lever standardised. This is the only satisfactory way of dealing with this problem. Propellor Shafts Oil leaks from Universal Joints. Out of balance causing vibration mainly on Phantom III. Sliding joint not working freely causing vá vibrations at high speeds PIII and "clank" when starting from rest. Propellor Shaft Damper After producing 300 - 25/30HP chassis propellor shaft damper had to be re-introduced to overcome overrun noise and transmission vibrations. Rear Axles A few complaints of noise on 25/30HP cars. Oil leaks into rear hub mechanism. | ||
