X.4414P - PETO & RADFORD BATTERIES. 20 HP. Y4600

Herewith please receive copy of a report on a P & R battery which we have recently opened up for inspection in the presence of Mr. G.R.N.Minchin and Mr. Preston of the Peto & Radford Co.

It will be understood that the cells of our present standard battery are of 7 thick plates per cell with ebonite and wood separators, similar to those in cells Nos. 4 & 6 in the present battery; contained in six separate single compartment Dagenite cell boxes housed in a wooden box. In this case, however, the battery is made up in a six-compartment moulded container of Dagenite without, of course, a wooden case.

The cells of the battery have been arranged as they have with a view to a comparison between the 9 thin and 7 thick plates on the one hand, and wood separators only and a combination of wood and ebonite separators on the other, and it will be clear from the detailed comparison herewith that there is evidence that the 9-plate sections are at least as good as, if not slightly better than, the present standard 7-plate sections. This, however, is to be confirmed upon the opening up of three other batteries
