which we haven which differ from the present battery in the disposition of the various cells only. In fact the variations which are contained in the present battery are spread over, these other batteries in the form of single comparisons in each case in one battery only.

One of these other batteries, as a matter of fact, made up entirely without ebonite separators (to afford a comparison between 9 thin and 7 thick plates) has actually already failed in two cells and is to be opened up shortly, whereas the other two containing wood and ebonite separation in all cells are still both in order on experimental chassis.

It will also be clear with regard to the separators that :-

(1) Ebonite separators in addition to wood are very essential.

(2) A still greater thickness of ebonite at the expense of the wood would be desirable.

With the sanction of the Progress Committee, which sanction it is desired should be given with the least possible delay, it is proposed to ask Messrs. P & R.{Sir Henry Royce} officially to increase the thickness of ebonite at the expense of the wood in batteries for chassis forthwith.
