STUDEBAKER'S GREATEST ACHIEVEMENT
ECONOMY CARS WITH LUXURY FEATURES FOR 1938

COMPARISON will prove that the new range of 1938 Studebakers represent the finest value—in appearance, comfort, safety and performance—that money can buy.
Their vigorous flowing lines are the original creations of the foremost designers and the finest craftsmen. They represent the investment of vast sums of money in new dies, tools and equipment; of engineering and laboratory research and proving ground tests; and the owner of every 1938 model has the assurance of the structural and mechanical soundness of his Studebaker in the knowledge that every possible effort has been made, with usual Studebaker thoroughness, to produce the most advanced car of the time.
The illustrations on this page feature some of the brilliant qualities associated with this unusually fine range of Studebaker cars.

Handwritten Note: You will look twice

STYLING that is refreshingly free from theatrical over-ornamentation gives these new Studebakers of 1938 a distinction that appeals to persons of inherent good taste. There is not a meaningless or useless line anywhere in the smooth air-curved exterior of these cars. And inside there is evident that pleasing restraint that characterizes a smartly furnished room.
The seat cushions, with their deftly tailored upholstery, are so contoured for comfort that you relax, regardless of the position in which you sit.
And the level floors combine with adequate head and leg room to give you a feeling of ease. Seat cushions are considerably wider than those of the spacious Studebakers of previous years.

THE DISTINCTIVE DETAILS OF THE 1938 STUDEBAKERS

Doors Close Lightly and Tightly in all the 1938 Studebakers. A remarkable rattle-proof rotary door latch is the reason. A slight pull from inside or push from outside and the door closes lightly, tightly and silently without slamming. Automatically takes up wear and eliminates rattles.

Refreshing Ventilation in the new Studebakers makes them delightful to ride in in any weather. Front ventilating panes swing to any position. Rear half of front windows may be completely lowered or raised.

Money-Saving Economy is an outstanding distinction of all the new 1938 Studebakers. The improved Fram Oil and Motor Cleaner practically eliminates the need for oil changing. The low petrol consumption on Studebaker cars is one of the big economy features of the 1938 models.

Front Seat Ash Trays that open or shut at a finger touch are located conveniently in the centre of the newly designed Studebaker instrument panel.

At Each End of the Rear Seat there is a small but capacious ash tray that rolls open and shut at a touch of the finger—and it's easily emptied.

Large Parcel Compartment at the side of instrument panel provides space for gloves, etc. Radio connections are above the ash tray.

Super-Strong Construction in which more box girders of steel are employed than in any other cars, make the steel-reinforced-by-steel Studebaker bodies exceptionally solid and safe. By actual comparison, you will not find structural strength comparable to Studebaker's in any other motor car body.

New Centre Rear Lamp illuminates the number plate which is located in the centre of the smartly contoured new Studebaker rear panel. Two wing tail lamps are also fitted.

Six Passenger Roominess—The wider Studebaker seats supply real front compartment roominess. Three persons easily occupy the front seat without crowding, while three others are comfortably accommodated in the rear seats of saloons and foursome coupes. There is ample head room, leg room and elbow room.

Independent Planar Suspension keeps the Studebaker frame and body on a level plane at all times. No coil springs are used. It is the strongest and simplest wheel suspension used in any car. Combined with Houdaille hydraulic shock absorbers it gives Studebaker's Miracle Ride.

The Miracle Ride—Studebaker leads the entire automobile world in truly restful riding. Studebaker's independent planar wheel suspension is now built in as standard on all models. Combined with Houdaille hydraulic shock absorbers it gives you unfatigued relaxation regardless of speed or type of road.

Remote Control—This great Studebaker advancement, available on 1938 President and Commander models, removes the gear change lever from the floor and places it in easy access directly in front of you. It makes easier still the easy change for which Studebaker is renowned.

You Don't Roll Back when you come to a stop on an upgrade in a Studebaker equipped with the Studebaker Automatic Hill Holder. You simply hold the clutch pedal down and your car remains stationary. Your right foot is free for the accelerator pedal. This feature is standard on all Commander and President models.
