Condition report for a 56-BN Bentley Chassis after 17,000 miles, detailing the rear axle, brakes, and hubs.

REAR AXLE - 10 x 41 Ratio. Condition good. Slight leaks from oil seals down Axle Shafts - due to faulty seals, these were handed to GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} Differential Box crack tested found OK. Axle Box chalk tested found OK. Driving Shafts twisted to receive a permanent set of 2º on both shafts. Scoring marks on driving shaft bearings. Bushes in Differential Pinions work to the centre of box. Driving Flange some thread shows fouling markings on housing cover. The clearance at this point should be increased - similar to the Ph.III. REAR BRAKES. Condition good. Brake Actuating Shaft Bearings (at Brake Drum end) worn .005 to .007" on dia: (due to shortage of oil) See Oil Pipes & Fittings section. REAR HUBS. The location of the Hoffmann 145 Ball Race is not satisfactory. width of land is .0856-5 wide with .075-25 rad in the corner. The radius on the Ball Race is .0787, we therefore get a line | ||
