It was agreed that it is the gentle user of brakes who gets the squeaks and not the fast driver. 8. Oil Consumption. Cases were mentioned in which customers complained of consumption, especially on the Continent, as low as 500 and 600 miles per gallon, and it was decided that Paris should report to W. the first bad oil consumption on a new car and Experimental Department would investigate it immediately. FREE OF CHARGE WORK. 1. With reference to Rolls-Royce cars, it was agreed that Hd.{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy} and Br.{T. E. Bellringer - Repair Manager} should meet and discuss the fair life to be given to various components with a view to being able to charge customers pro rata when they had had considerable use out of a component before it became necessary to renew it. 2. With reference to Bentley cars, Hd.{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy} and Pk. were to meet and confer in the same way. 3. Steering on 25/30 H.P. Rolls-Royce cars. This matter arose in connection with the suggestion in the Agenda that perhaps unnecessary work might occasionally be carried out under Depot Sheet Instructions. It was decided that the modification to be made to the 25/30 H.P. steering must definitely be considered as a "Safety First" job, and that a real effort must now be made by all Depots to deal with the cars still outstanding. (7) It was agreed that Depots should be free to criticise a Depot Sheet at any time when the work specified appeared to be redundant or unnecessary in the light of their experience. (8) ACCESSIBILITY OF PARTS. It is hoped that Repair Departments and Depots will send in suggestions as to the improvement of accessibility or difficulty experienced. Such criticism will always be welcomed for future production. As a start it was agreed that Depots might send to E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} at once the 3 worst examples of inaccessibility on each model. CONTD.
