considered that in some cases the fitting of low rated front springs was not always very suitable, especially in the case of fast drivers, who liked more definite control. It was decided that it was not easy for W. to spring a chassis with any real knowledge of the use to which the car was going to be put, and Experimental Department will therefore investigate the matter further.
NOTE:- See "Steering" under F.O.C. work below.

(s) BENTLEY.

1. Rear Wheel Drivers Breaking.
A stronger and better designed type of driver will be sent to Depots. This will be fitted in cases of failure only until a figure of merit for it has been got out. Shortly another design of hub will come on to production and Experimental Department will put up a scheme for modifying the hubs. R.H.C. reports there will be no difficulty about material.

2. Noisy Rear Axles.
Cry. reported that a few axles appear to have got off test without proper fitting, causing a failure of the R & M bearing. A hardened steel washer is now being supplied for the thrust, and Experimental and New Test Departments are carefully watching production.

3. Sticking Accelerator Pedal.
It was agreed that this job is generally too good. Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} is arranging for bigger clearances where necessary from today and Depots should in all cases see that clearances are actually sloppy.

4. Brakes and Servo.
Discussion showed that servo adjustments are not lasting - at the best a few thousand miles only. GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} spoke of modifications on the way. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} mentioned the new swinging arm design.
With reference to brake seizures, which are of greatest importance because they hold up customers on the road, it was stated that an improved scheme for actuating shaft lubrication is on production. It was not stated that retrospective measures can be taken under this new scheme.

5. Brakes Squeaking.
GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} suggests an increased poundage on the pilot shoe. Experimental Department is, however, still investigating
