PETROL TANK.
RE GAUGE ON TANK SHOWING AMOUNT OF PETROL PRESENT.

Referring to Da{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}6/CB24.6.20., the question of fitting the gauge originally arose owing to France taking the question up with Sales as to whether a petrol gauge could not be fitted in order, to overcome the trouble of having to take out the plug after releasing the pressure, measuring the petrol, return plug and repump at every Octroi Station.

I have confirmed this fact with Sn{Mr Sanderson}'s Dept. and I certainly cannot understand how it is that you have not had full instructions on this point, as the whole of the correspondence was originally carried on between the Design Department and Sales.

I certainly think that we should proceed to produce a new design to accommodate the Simms Magnetic Gauge, which would include the sump at the bottom of the tank carrying a steady for the bottom of the tube containing the lever indicating float, as this would certainly be more accurate than the present scheme.

Would you kindly take this matter up, and after producing a design submit same to the Simms Company, in order that they may produce a gauge to suit our design, which will indicate within a gallon what is actually in the tank.
