(12) Gearbox.
Increasing the flexibility of the mounting has been of material assistance in overcoming the noise problem. We are still not entirely happy with the gear change. Experiments are continuing.
Rig tests

(13) Wheel Failures.
These have been dealt with.

(14) Front Tyre Wear.
This will be revived after we have decided what tyre is necessary to reduce noise.

(15) Throwing Rear Seat Passengers, over Hump-Backed Bridges.
The development of the Autolock shock damper is going along. Provision is being made so that the first 50 cars produced will be able to have the Autolock shock damper fittings, if the development has proceeded sufficiently far by the time they go on test.

The following are troubles which have been shown up on the Trials car and which have not previously been emphasized :-

(i) Tyre Noise.
This is bad. Conditions in London accentuate this feature far more than in the provinces. Some tyres which were to all intents and purposes free from noise when tried round Derby were found to be unsatisfactory in London. We have therefore found it necessary to carry out the tests in London. Further information on this problem will be available next week.
