Also care should be taken to see that the water temp. is identical, also oil temp. and air temp. if possible.

No. 5 TEST HOUSE.

B.60 No.1 UNIT.

The main feature on this unit is the larger throat cylinder head ExS.1383.

(a) Tests should comprise maximum power at the best valve timing, and other conditions that give a direct comparison with power previously taken on this unit with the old head.

(b) MEP loops against ignition advance on Redline giving position of non detonations on curves.

(c) Switching off tests under previous conditions,

(d) Exhaust valve temperatures, also under previous condition.

(e) Compression pressures to be taken.

(f) Power loss to exhaust system to note whether head has effected any change from previous comparisons.

(g) Idling, lowest even running figure.

Further tests dependent upon the results obtained.

B.80 No. 2 UNIT.

When rigged up on bed Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/JRS. to carry out investigations of crank and camshaft oscillations.
