Re Carburetter (special throttle valve for low speed throat.)

The Experimental Dept. have carried out further tests with this device and they report as follows:-

"The damper over the low speed throat cures the explosion due to the petrol that used to be drawn up there when coasting down hill. We still get explosions however with this damper on, due to the petrol that collects in the carburetter and pipe when the throttle is suddenly shut, the inertia on the petrol causes it to continue to flow for an instant after throttle is shut. We get explosions even if the low speed jet cone is screwed right down absolutely cutting off any petrol from that source when coasting.
