Wd{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead}3/NJ16.10.19. Re Vacuum Oil Co.Ltd. Please refer to my note Wd{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead}8/NJ26919 (to BJ). I am informed that on the 30th ult. Mr.J.Bryan Hall, of the Vacuum Oil Co.Ltd. called upon BJ. and undertook to omit the name of Rolls-Royce from the list of cars contained in their advertisement, wherein they stated that their oils are recommended for use on our cars. On the 1st inst. BJ. wrote Mr.J.Bryan Hall confirming the arrangement and suggesting that the Vacuum Oil Co. should communicate with Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} with regard to the testing of any oils which they considered would be suitable for use on R.R. chassis, in order that exhaustive trials of these oils could be made by us to ascertain whether, in our opinion, they are suitable. On the 3rd inst. the Vacuum Oil Co. wrote to Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} and I attach hereto copy of the letter. If you wish to confer with the Vacuum Oil Co's technical representative, Mr.J.Russell Sharp, please let me know what day will be convenient. As regards the quantities of oil necessary to enable trials to be made, I would refer you to R's letter, R8/G23919, to BJ. (copy to you). I have acknowledged receipt of the Vacuum Oil Co's letter and have promised to return to the subject as early as possible. [STAMP] A.E.N.
