C O P Y. From:- VACUUM OIL COMPANY, LIMITED, Caxton House, Westminster, London, S.W.1. 3rd October, 1919. In reply please refer to:- J.B.H. The Works Manager, Messrs.Rolls-Royce Ltd., Nightingale Road, Osmaston, DERBY. Dear Sir, On the 30th ult. the writer had the pleasure of interviewing Mr. Basil Johnson, your General Manager, at his request, when the question of our recommendation chart in relation to the Rolls-Royce chassis was discussed. It was then suggested that we should communicate with you in regard to your making exhaustive tests of our grades, with a view to your deciding their suitability for the Rolls-Royce chassis. Upon hearing from you we shall, of course, be pleased to despatch the necessary quantities to enable you to conduct the trials, but would suggest that perhaps you would like to confer with our Technical representative, Mr. J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} Russell Sharp, beforehand, in order that we might be informed as to what the actual up-to-date requirements of your chassis may be. Hitherto we have relied upon outside information on to enable us to prescribe and we naturally feel that a conference between us upon the important question of correct lubrication could be made beneficial to all concerned. Awaiting your kind advices, and offering you our full service, We are, Yours faithfully, VACUUM OIL COMPANY, LTD. (Sgd.) J.Bryan Hall. Manager. Automobile Lubricants Department. [STAMP] A.E.M.
