Hanbury - Head Complaints} 5.11.25. OVEROILING AND SPARKING PLUGS. ---------------------------- Referring to EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}4/H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} 3.11.25. and BJ1/H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} 4.11.25. since the middle of October we have been despatching chassis with the demountable Lodge Plug. The plug itself is precisely the same in proportions and dimensions as the original type which was not demountable. We have no more of the old type plugs on order, and we have instructed Stores and Hm.{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs} from the Order Office that the old type plugs which were not capable of being demounted are to be carried in stock and used on repair and for despatch to customers using Silver Ghost chassis as they are required. We have at the moment on order 5000 plugs of the demountable type, and all further New PhantomCodename for PHANTOM I chassis will be delivered with this type of plug fitted. In regard to the question raised by BJ. as to chassis at coachbuilders, there is no reason why we should not replace the plugs on all cars which have not reached owners' hands by the demountable type. In regard to the second point raised in EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}'s memo with reference to plugging the oil holes in the inlet rockers on all cars before delivery, this can be arranged for, but it is probably desirable for cars to be run for a longer period with the inlet rocker hole plugged, before we commit ourselves to treating all cars in this manner.
