- 3 - Oil pump. (New oil pump & casing to L.E.C. 2063.) Oil pump has worked satisfactorily. Oil relief valve enclosed in same - valve has been cleaned out twice, owing to loss of oil pressure. Nothing definite was found under valve seat, but after cleaning oil pressure has remained O.K. Battery ignition. New points had been fitted to distributor before starting test. These are quite O.K., but have not been making quite a full faced contact. We have trimmed these up. We have had no trouble with battery ignition whatsoever. Bonnet & fittings. The bonnet is in good condition. The N.S.R. bonnet fastener ceased to function. Upon dismantling it was found that the spindle was slightly strained. This has been straightened, & it is now O.K. The N.S. bonnet strip - aluminium rivets from front end to centre have pulled through, leaving the strip loose. There did not appear to be sufficient head of rivet to prevent this. We have fitted new rivets. Engine guards. The side engine guards are not entirely satisfactory. There is a considerable amount of dirt getting through between engine guard & bottom engine case. We reported on our last test over here that these should be close fitting. We have at the present time 3/16 to 1/4" clearance. Gearbox undershield. This is satisfactory as regards protecting gearbox from water & dirt. Radiator to L.O.P.E. 53380. This is in good condition. Radiator shutter & controls to L.O.P. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} 53990. These are working satisfactorily, & are free from rattles. Dashboard & brackets. "D" type - F52857 otherwise to L.O.P. F.{Mr Friese} 5334I. Dashboard is in good condition. All nuts & bolts holding brackets are tight. Steering column & box. New stiffener support tube to Drwgs. F.{Mr Friese} 53250/1/2/3/4, otherwise to L.O.P. 5094I. Steering column support on dash - all bolts O.K. Steering box supported on frame & engine - this is O.K. Slight slack in steering column thrust race taken up. There is a slight amount of | ||
