To Dk. Nice Levallois Sr/VA7/ET.5.5.36 Re: CHASSIS B.8.GA - PARIS TRIALS CAR We are now dismantling the rear axle of the above chassis, on which the gears failed due to seizure. We are preparing a report for the Works upon the matter; as the Works like ourselves want to find out the cause of axle trouble, we shall be glad to learn from you the quantity of oil you found in the axle when you attended to it. As far as we can tell at present, we should say that, probably owing to a faulty oil seal, oil found its way past the o/s oil seal via the axle tube and through the oil drain. We find that there has been an oil leakage on to the o/s brake mechanism and hub. We have received your report concerning the slack nuts of the pinion housing etc.. Sr/VA. | ||
