4.(Cont'd) (Item 4)

Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} raised the point of higher axle ratio and Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} said that three different ratios of gears are to be tried and are in hand.
Frame Jellying was referred to and Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} said there was little hope of alteration in this respect.
Engine roar at the higher speeds was discussed and Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} said he was not anxious to make the Bonsport as quiet as the 20/25 over the whole range of working. Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} also expressed the same view.
It was decided that no intake silencer be fitted at present.
Cutouts were mentioned and were considered to be desirable fittings for this model. It was decided to fit a cutout of the Silver Ghost type on the second car which will be ready by Easter but steps should be taken to keep fumes from entering the body, probably by the use of a short tail pipe.
Engine finish was discussed so as to provide a different appearance to the 20/25. It was arranged that samples of various finishes be provided for Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}'s inspection, some polished, or scratch brushed on the aluminium parts and maybe, some enamelled in some other colour different to 20/25.
Stream-lining of body and wings. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} said that a speed of 100 M.P.H. has a great fascination for a certain type of owner and if we could manage to do this speed with a finished car even for demonstration only it would be a good sales talking point.
The only way to achieve this is by improvement in stream-lining.

5. Item 5 on Agenda. SpectreCodename for Phantom III generally and what further action, if any, taken ?

E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} reported that he has now picked up this job again and is working on it.

6. (Not on Agenda). Air Silencers.

Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} made enquiries regarding intake silencers on 40/50's. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} said intake silencers are not fitted on semi-expanding carburetters as they are at present only being used on Continental type chassis, and it is not desirable that they should be quieter than the standard chassis.
