ENGINES.

The engines shall be of the standard automotive or industrial type, and shall be so rated that when the alternator is delivering its full load output the engine will only be loaded to 75% of its H.P. at B.S.I. rating.

GOVERNORS.

Each engine shall be provided with a reliable close regulating, automatic governor arranged so that the speed may be readily adjusted.

FUEL PUMP.

Each engine shall be provided with an automatic fuel pump capable of lifting the required quantity of petrol from a tank provided by the Railway Company below the floor of the coach.

STARTING EQUIPMENT.

Each engine shall be provided with its own starting equipment arranged to operate at 24 volts and comprising motor, battery and charging dynamo together with the necessary cut-out.

IGNITION.

Each engine shall be arranged for magneto ignition but an extra price shall be quoted for providing a stand by coil ignition system, arranged for rapid changeover and operated from the 24 volt starting battery.

COOLING.

The engines shall be of the water cooled
