CHASSIS ITEMS. -4- Minute No. 7. (Cont'd) Item 7 on Agenda. Peregrine generally. and make say 20 chassis instead of six. These 20 chassis would be required for trials cars and similar purposes. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} agreed to this and thought 20 would be a suitable number for the trial batch. It was therefore agreed that 200 sets of material for parts which we are sure of, be ordered, and that 20 sets of this material be machined, finished and built up into complete chassis. To build these 20 chassis it will be necessary to order up 20 sets of the remaining parts to make up 20 complete sets. This will leave 180 sets of material for parts we are sure of, in hand. It was also agreed to go ahead with jigs and tools for the production of Peregrine. Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} here mentioned that during the testing in France of the Peregrine we must not forget to call in EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}, and Ex. while the tests are in progress. 8. Item 8 on Agenda. Bonsport generally and gearbox in particular. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} read notes as follows:- "He. is pushing ahead with producing the first experimental car which will have the J.1. engine and gearbox. "Hy.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} says the Bonsport gearbox is not yet cleared by W.S., but they would send him their final designs at any moment now. "Why. will require about three weeks to complete the drawings and issue instructions." 9. Item 9 on Agenda. SpectreCodename for Phantom III generally. No further progress to report. 10. Item 10 on Agenda. Independent Springing. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} has spoken with Dn. and De. says he hopes to put in enough work in the next few weeks to enable the Exp. Dept. to rig up a preliminary set for trial. Ha's report was referred to. (Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}8/MA.23.11.32.) Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} said that he was definitely of the opinion that we should obtain and try out a set of Dubonnet units if R.{Sir Henry Royce} does not express his disapproval after seeing Ha's report. He. will immediately get full particulars and prices for such units and find out how and where they can be obtained. Keep on Agenda. | ||
