TO HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} FROM DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} SECRET. DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/EV{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}1/M21.6.24. Copy to IHS. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} A.{Mr Adams} C. X9520 X3761 re. 40/50. CHASSIS SHOCK ABSORBERS. We thank you for your BY/C3/H24524, and the enclosed modified chassis print F.10095, (which is returned herewith.) We have discussed the question with Sales, and have come to the conclusion that for immediate cars it would be best to indicate a clear-ance on the coachwork as you suggest, and that for future chassis, (40/50. and EAC.2.) we suggest that the cantilever bracket on the side of the frame could be moved to the rear an amount perhaps suffi-cient to enable a wing stay to be got in without the difficulty which is now experienced. We shall be shewing you this latter suggestion on a drawing for EAC. 2. in a day or two, and no doubt you will incorporate it on the 40/50 as soon as conditions permit.
