C. Roy.{Sir Henry Royce} 1280 April 12th.1938 Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std.6/AP. Messrs John Marston Ltd., WOLVERHAMPTON. For the attention of Mr.Dunn. Dear Sirs, With regard to your invoice of Sept.1st.1937, No.112914, which has been passed on to the writer for approval, we note that you have charged £10. 9. 9. for the sample radiator which you made up to incorporate your ideas of cost reduction and which was submitted as a possible reduced cost radiator which you would be prepared to make and supply to us. At the time you offered to submit this sample and we were under the impression that this was to be on a F.O.C. basis. In view of the fact, however, that it was subsequently decided that it would be impossible to get this radiator on to Bentley III. cars in the time available, and as we have used the dummy shutters off it for a B.III. radiator mock-up, we agree that we should bear a portion of the cost of manufacture of this sample unit. As we supplied the pressings for the shell, top tank and various machined pieces, we think that a reasonable allocation of charges would be for us to pay £10. 0. 0. as part cost, making the total amount due against your invoice 112914 to be £14. 15. 0. We would be glad to hear from you as soon as possible as to whether you are agreeable to this proposal. We would like you also to confirm in writing to our Order Office the promise of 50 replacement oil coolers per week which you gave the writer over the telephone yesterday. We would point out that over the last two months, although 60 per week were promised, average deliveries were 20 per werk week. The rapid changing of these oil coolers has become a very serious necessity. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. | ||
