D7/EL. 1st July 1930. A.V. Nutt, Esq. Solicitor, St.{Capt. P. R. Strong} James's Chambers, Derby. Dear Mr.Nutt, Miss England II. (1) Referring to your letter of the 30th ultimo, enclosing proofs of evidence; Mr. Ellor has seen me this morning with regard to his proof, to which he agrees subject to an inclusion at the point marked "A" of a comprehensive statement that Mr. Ellor vouches that not only did he see an examination of the engine including the transmission and other mechanical parts, but this was also done by the late Mr. Halliwell, Sir Henry Segrave's mechanic, Mr. Ilcocks and Rolls-Royce mechanics Green and Orme and that Mr. Ellor's examination was putting the seal on their examination as an extra precaution. (2) It may be that for some reason or other you do not wish to mention anybody else's name in Mr. Ellor's evidence, but we consider it important that Mr. Ellor should aver that extremely careful checking and precautions were taken before the boat set out for its trial. We want to impress on the jury that we were not satisfied with one engineer checking the mechanical parts, but five. Yours faithfully, | ||
