For the attention of Mr. Donald Sessions.

Dear Sirs,

I was asked today to examine a set of D.W.S. jacks ordered for and fitted to a new production 20/25 HP. chassis, No. GHA.35. The production department complained that the jacks were generally a very poor job.

On examining the jacks it was found that they differed very materially from the set of jacks which we are testing out on an experimental car with a view to standardisation. There are very few parts common to both jacks.

The thread is entirely different and is not of the type that we should approve of, and the cutting of it is extremely rough and poor.

The jack case is a different shape and the formation of the mud excluding lip has been altered, apparent for reasons of cost; this alteration has materially reduced the stiffness of the case and is a very poor seal against mud and water.

The shape of the jacking pad is different.

The trunnion nuts are about half as long as on our sample set.

The screw and operating shaft are in three pieces and are very roughly rivetted up and finished off.

The shafts on the rear jacks are about two inches too short; they are difficult to work because the handle fouls the tyre and levers the gearbox off the shaft.

cont'd.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary}
