To: /RM{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} From G.W.H X7940. Hôtel de France Châteauroux. 26/4/30 We have run into serious trouble during yesterday's mileage with the radiator becoming choked, pratically all the water was pumped out of the overflow pipes. This came on without any previous warning. We had been running at a maximum speed to check over the valve clearances bringing the water temp up to 90°C, the above happened after this run. We have got some dirt out the filter, but cannot clear the radiator, it still will not pass the water quick enough and it looks as if we shall be held up. We cannot do anything with this arrangement of filter in the top of the radiator. Weve had the plug out and cleaned the filter out as much as we can. How to tackle anything else I dont know whithout we destroy the filter. We have also got some mystery with one of the exhaust valves. .006" clearance has gone in two days, it is a SLV by the specification. We shall dismantle the head if any further trouble arises.
