R.R. 235 A (100 T) (S.F. 846 6-8-19) G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} 2460 COPY Attached 23.3.20 To: Bn.{W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington}, Derby. From: Sp.{Mr Spinney} Sp{Mr Spinney}2/HW/19320. re HOT FOOTBOARDS. Lord Herbert Scott wishes me to advise you concerning some notes in a minute from Mr. Royce to C.J., as follows:- "I am told, also, that the effective way of keeping the front of the car cool is by the use of the wind-screen, which should be capable of being inclined backwards at the top, and then brought into a vertical position, leaving space at the bottom for a downward current of air. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} has got this matter in hand as far as we are concerned, but I fear we can do nothing with existing chassis, which must be tackled by means of ventilation." "There is one point, however, which I have lately remarked as a possible means of improvement, and that is, the breather pipe should be taken outside the chassis or rearwards, so that the fumes from the crankcase do not enter the body. I think this is of great urgency, and would be a tremendous benefit." You will note that Mr. Royce thinks that the improvement following taking the breather pipe "outside the chassis or rearwards, so that the fumes from the crankcase do not enter the body is of great urgency and would be a tremendous benefit." Can you please inform us what is being done in this matter? (Sgd) R.D.S. EX. RECEIVED MAR 23 1920 | ||
