X.917 With reference to the over-size tyres, I have no experience with twin tyres, but it always occured to me that they were inconvenient and heavy. Have the detachable wire wheels been arranged for twin tyres ? (I since hear that they have). Putting on 120 m/m tyres on the back wheels renders their interchangeability with the front wheels impossible, and is therefore inconvenient. I is highly desirable that the front wheel tyres should not fail, because of the increased danger, and therefore there ought to be a good margin of safety with front wheel tyres, which appears to point out that the larger size tyres is preferable to the twin tyres. We are also distinctly in favour of a large tyre that can swallow a brick if necessary. I am distinctly not in favour of a ^the larger wheels, but I think it would be a great improvement if the tyres were larger than 135. I hope it will be found that other than Germans are making something which we can use and is satisfactory. R.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
