R.R. 50M-10-10 W. W. & S. Ld. 2481 ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. INSTRUCTIONS. To: Technical Committee Order No. Customer's No. XIII Re: Worm Teeth Since sending in my sheet of Jan 8th suggesting that a form of buttress thread on a worm might have advantage, I have further considered the matter and come to the conclusion that any gain in efficiency would be too small to be perceivable either by the graphical method or by calculation. But I can suggest a method of experiment which would not be very costly - it is for you to decide whether it would be worth while trying it. Obviously, we cannot [word crossed out] unless you have knowledge of worm gear efficiency far beyond what I have been able to discover. Signed This Sheet must be filed on completion of the work.
