Dear Mr. Summers,

With regard to your letter to Mr. Robotham dated the 30th ult., I am afraid we are unable to give you the corresponding load for your dampers compared with the latest hand control type.

Actually, although the dampers on your car look very similar to the controllable type damper from the outside, there is a distinct difference in the damping characteristics. The latest type of damper as fitted to your brother's car increases its load according to the speed of the car, whereas your type increases its load according to the speed of the axle movement.

I am pleased to hear that you do not want to make your car any harsher to ride in, and hope that you will eventually find a suitable compromise for your requirements.

Yours faithfully,

FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED.
