-3- (p.21) "With the radiator shutters closed this temperature contd. will be quickly attained". Delete (automatic shutter). "The provision of a water jacket around the induction pipe ---- etc." Delete (exhaust heat). Last two pars. Refer to starting handle. This is almost a garage tool nowadays. Recent check in America shows that in our whole organisation nobody has been known to start the engine with the handle for years. Should it not be confined to later notes on tappet adjustment, etc.? (p.22) ---"No reserve supply of fuel is provided". I believe it is now suggested to return to the three gallon reserve, in addition to, or in replacement of present small reserve in dash tank? (p.24 & Devoted to practice of double clutching. top In practice 99 out of 100 of our drivers in U.S. never p.25) do this. If the car will not climb a hill "on high" the gear lever is pushed over into third at 25 m.p.h. or less. One can say that these instructions are an education in refined driving, but in view of the "synchro-mesh" and "Twin-high" boxes now usual on Am. cars, is it wise to tell our owners (and competitors) that the R.R. has to be double-clutched? (p.26) Last line. Between diagrams I and II should be - between diagrams I and III. (p.27) Last two pars. on ign. and carb. control. also I have not observed that it is normal practice among (p.28) drivers here to carry the throttle lever at the bottom any more. It leads to accidental stalling in traffic. Can we say throttle lever at bottom for starting only? (p.29) With automatic shutters suggest reducing this section thus:- "Radiator Shutters and Thermometer. "The action of the radiator shutters is automatic and controls the water temperature between 70 and 85 degrees Centigrade. (Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} should confirm). "A thermometer is provided on the instrument board to indicate that the shutters are operating normally and that there is no shortage of water. As an additional safeguard a red lamp operated by the thermometer shows when the water temperature approaches boiling. cont'd.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} | ||
