X4118 Chassis No. GSK-76 - J.E. Hutton. Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} D {John DeLooze - Company Secretary} /AWS9/B12-3-26 Sales Dept. report that they received a complaint from this owner that he suffered from a very bad steering wobble on his way down from London to his home. S. sent their Inspector-Tester - Frith down to see the owner, and attached is copy of his report. Hr. has spoken to JLE {J. Lee Evans - Chassis Test Manager} about the final test of this car, and he reported that the steering was quite normal for the 20 h.p., and that it is possible to get this slow steering wobble on any 20. The owner in his complaint stated that Frith tightened up the friction pivot device. S. say this is wrong as the only thing he did was to tighten up the cross steering tube, which was rather slack. The matter has been referred to EP. {G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} and he agrees that the front wheel brake type of 20 HP. car is susceptible to the low speed wobble, and that we are fully cognisant of this. EP. {G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} suggests, however, that in view of the complaint we should obtain a statement from you as to the present position, and we should be glad if you would kindly let us have this.
