SIDE STEERING TUBES.

Further to my memo BY5/H.11.3.27, I find that in the memo quoted I did not fully cover the position.

The facts of the case are that the new spring 1500 lbs, having .300 clearance, piece no.F.76726, is to be used for all Series between "" and "B.2", for changeover work. This will include certain cars which have the modified steering ratio, but are at present fitted with 3500 lbs. springs.

"C.2" & "D.2." Series will be fitted with 1400 lbs. spring .200 deflection; so far as we see at the moment there will be no need to change these later.

"E.2." Series will be fitted with the 1500 lbs. spring, .300 deflection, piece No. F.76726.

If later we find that "C.2." & "D.2." suffers in comparison with the other cars in regard to steering, we will arrange for the springs to be changed over as and when the cars become available.
