RE 20HP SCUTTLE AND DASH ISOLATION.

We feel that we should have some recognised scheme for the above which is suitable for immediate use with existing steering columns and dashboards. We therefore suggest sending round a Standardisation Sheet for the following for present cases until such time as we are able to stiffen the dash and the "D" type column.

SCUTTLE ISOLATION to be the present semi-flexible type using two rubber washered bolts either side of the bonnet eye.

INSTRUMENT BOARDS to be carried entirely of the scuttle.

No inst. board brkts. to be used as such, but the off-side brkt. to be fitted as a steady for the column.

This we believe is the policy adopted by the leading coach-builders and is the best solution of immediate problems. We are aware that this suggestion was taken up by EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} when G.D.K.69. fitted as above was taken to Derby for consultation with Da{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} & E but it was not considered perfect. We now think that whatever is the best known method should be made standard so that the treatment of the car shall be uniform throughout all coachbuilders.

Would the C.S.C. and Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} kindly give me their views.

We are of course bearing in mind the future design with a stiffer dash and "D" type column.
