X4613 X4067 We are not in a position to give much information on the 20 HP. Instrument Board and Steering Support because on the two experimental 20 HP. cars (7-G-11 and 6-G-11), although the dashboard is isolated, we still retain both instrument board brackets and also fix the instrument boards to the scuttle. 7-G-11 car fitted with a Maythorn saloon body has run over 60,000 miles, including many thousands of miles in France fitted with both instrument board brackets. We have had no trouble with this scheme. 6-G-11 fitted with an open Mulliner body has run 35,000 miles. On this car both instrument board brackets are used with complete isolation for the dash. Our own opinion however is that the second support for the instrument board can be dispensed with without any harm. From our experience however we could not altogether accept that the fact of using the two brackets is the cause of any serious harm. We should say there is very little difference whether one or both are used. The fact that there are so many cars only fitted with one bracket justifies it being adopted as standard.
