J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} Milne, Esq.,
Messrs. Dennis Bros, Ltd.,
Guildford.

Dear Mr. Milne,

With regard to the tests of RR.AC.6. Aluminium-Tin bearings, which you carried out on your engine, it would be very interesting to know whether the shafts that these bearings were run on were hardened or not.

It is one point which has occurred to me which was not queried on the occasion of my last visit to your Works and also at the same time I should like to know what is the approximate hardness of the shaft, if it is not hardened.

We are trying to gather as much information as possible concerning outside experience with these bearings, as apart from the Laboratory and development work being carried out by the Research Department of Rolls Royce, and would esteem it a favour if you could let us have this information.

Yours sincerely,
