We enclose herewith, full size drawings of the third head.

The formed milling cutter has been altered in shape to agree with the latest drawing of the Northcliffe Cylinder. When new, it is 3" diameter and is to run at 80 revs. per min. giving a cutting speed of 60ft per min. The cutter spindle (M.S.) runs in P.B.Bearings and is oiled from the Sun and Planet gear box by oil holes and grooves as described in a previous memo.

The spindle for adjusting throw of cutter is of M.S. and carries the annulus for the sun and planet gear.

We have made the gears narrower and have endeavoured to make the whole box more compact. The gears are to be of C.H.N.S., the planets being P.B.bushed. We shew a detail of the planet plate. The planets run on shouldered pins, which are to be shorter than the distance between the planet plates.

The 5" spindle (M.S.) is to be turned from bar. The end play is taken by flange at the front. The end play for wheel spindle is
